Ans (b) Cripps Proposals
The Quit India Movement, also known as August Kranti Movement, began on 8th August 1942. It was launched after the failure of Cripps Mission.
The British Government sent a delegation to India under Sir Stafford Cripps to negotiate with the Indian National Congress (INC) a deal to obtain complete cooperation during the Second World War in return for progressive devolution and distribution of the power from the British Crown and the Viceroy to an elected Indian Legislature. However, the talks failed, as they did not address the Key demand of a timetable of self-government and of the definition of the powers to be relinquished, essentially making an offer of limited dominion status that was entirely unacceptable to the Indian Movement.
